The battle near Oberhausen took place on June 27, 1800 between French troops under General Jean Victor Moreau and Austrian troops against the backdrop of the Second Coalition War . The Austrians had crossed the Danube on June 26th , had taken positions south and north of Neuburg an der Donau and occupied the hill between Oberhausen and Unterhausen . On June 27, 1800, the French attacked the position successfully. Among the dead were the Bavarian battalion commander Peter Reichsgraf von Zedtwitz , the French colonel of the 46th Infantry Half-Brigade Pierre Forty and the commander of the French grenadiers Latour . Today a memorial commemorates the battle, the land of which belongs to the French state to this day.
