The battle base and cannons at Old Wharf ( English Firing point and guns near Old Wharf ) is a national monument of the African state of Sierra Leone . It is located on Dublin Island ( Banana Islands ).
The base is due to the stationing of British troops. These were supposed to repel the numerous attacks by pirates off the coast of Sierra Leone.
The battle base and the three cannons are (as of 2009) in good condition and surrounded by a well-preserved fortification.
