Get married with a side salad

Geheirate (-te) or Verheirate (-te) is a traditional Saarland dish made from potatoes , dumplings and bacon.

For preparation, potatoes are donated or diced and boiled, a firm dough made from flour , eggs , salt , nutmeg and water and cooked together with the potatoes. Before serving, the “married” elongated dumplings and potato sticks are garnished with melted bacon , or, if you like , with roasted onions , and some cooking water or cream . A variant of this is to sear smoked meat briefly, to extinguish with milk and then to pour this over the "married". The usual side dish is lettuce or some other leaf salad . It is often also take salad applesauce eaten it.
