Visaginas municipality

The municipality Visaginas (lit. Visagino savivaldybė ) is a municipality in Lithuania , in the Utena district . The center of the municipality is the city of Visaginas . The community was established on July 19, 1994. On March 25, 1995 the municipal elections were held. The Rimšė District and 16 villages from the Ignalina district were assigned to the new municipality. The territory is 5841 ha. In 2011 there were 22,585 inhabitants, 51.91% (11,724) of them Russians, 18.62% (4,205) Lithuanians, 9.33% (2,108) Poles.
