The municipality Druskininkai ( Druskininkų savivaldybė ) is one of the so-called genuine self-government municipalities ( Nauja Savivaldybė ) in Lithuania without additional designation. In addition to the core city, it includes the small town ( miestelis ) Leipalingis with 1736 inhabitants and 63 villages.
The rural outer area is divided into two administrative districts ( seniūnija ), Leipalingis and Viečiūnai .
Location and nature
There is Grūtas Park , Raigardas Valley and Dainava Forest in the municipality . There are brown hares on the edge of the forest or field. Raccoon dogs live under fir branches.
In the area is the Mizarai crater .
