The community center Deilinghofen is the only Catholic church service room in the formerly independent community Deilinghofen , which has been a district of Hemer , North Rhine-Westphalia since 1975 .

history

After the Reformation , almost all of the Deilinghofer parishioners changed to the Protestant faith. The first Catholics began to settle in Deilinghofen again in the 18th century. The group grew to 123 believers by 1871, for whom the path to the parish church of St. Peter and Paul was very long. Since that time, plans have been made to build a church in Deilinghofen. In 1867 the parish was given a piece of land. In 1868, however, there was a change in the pastor's office of St. Peter and Paul, the new pastor rejected the building in Deilinghofen in contrast to his predecessor and instead suggested a building in the more central Sundwig . In 1872 a mission church was consecrated in Sundwig, and in 1905 it was replaced by St. Bonifatius .

Since then, Deilinghofen has been part of the Sundwig community. At the end of April 1966, a vicar was introduced in Sundwig, who was responsible for community work in Deilinghofen. During this time, Sunday services were celebrated once a month in an inn in Deilinghofen. Construction work on the community center began three years later. The plans provided rooms for child and adult work as well as a meeting room for worship. Originally a church was also planned, but this has not yet been realized.

Instead, the topping-out ceremony for the community center “Im Keunenborn” was celebrated in March 1972, and the later Cardinal Johannes Joachim Degenhardt inaugurated the building in October . The Protestant congregation in Deilinghofen gave the Catholics the altar cross for the church service room .

The community center still belongs to the parish of St. Bonifatius and is used twice a week for church services and otherwise regularly by the Catholic youth.
