GemsTV was a teleshopping broadcaster based in Grünwald , which broadcast 20 hours a day digitally via Astra from October 1, 2012 to December 18, 2012 . From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., the station also broadcast a window on the frequencies of Channel 21 . Jewelery of all kinds was offered. The operator was GemsTV Germany GmbH, which sold on the same principle as Gems TV in Great Britain. Gems TV was a subsidiary of Channel 21.

On December 18, 2012, Gems TV ceased operations due to failure to meet sales targets. It was Gems TV's second failed attempt in Germany after the first Gems TV was absorbed by Juwelo TV with a new owner .

Sales principle

The products could only be purchased while they were being presented by the moderator. This principle is also practiced by 1-2-3.tv , among others , and distinguishes these channels from other teleshopping programs such as HSE24 or QVC , where the products presented can generally also be bought after the presentation.

The principle is similar to a descending auction with falling prices. For legal reasons, however, the correct name is "purchase against bid", as is the case with all teleshopping channels, since auctions or auctions are not permitted on German television.
