Gen'yō Takeda
Gen'yō Takeda ( Japanese 竹田 玄 洋 , Takeda Gen'yō ; born March 7, 1949 in Osaka Prefecture ) was Managing Director of Nintendo with responsibility for Integrated Research & Development from May 2002 and was a consultant since September 16, 2015 of the group is active in the field of technology . He joined Nintendo in July 1972. After the death of Satoru Iwata , he acted temporarily as Managing Director of Nintendo until Tatsumi Kimishima was appointed Nintendo President on September 14, 2015 . On April 27, 2017, Nintendo announced that Takeda would be leaving the company in July 2017 after 45 years of service.
Hardware development
Takeda's role at Nintendo is mainly hardware development. He was the one who refused to simply release a more powerful version of the Nintendo GameCube , rather he pushed for the creation of an innovative video game console, which eventually led to the unusual but innovative controller design of the Nintendo Wii . In the media, he is also often referred to as its inventor, but due to Nintendo's closed corporate structure and existing patents, confirmation or denial of this information by external sources is not possible.
