Gendun Rinpoche

Gendün Rinpoche (* 1918 in Tibet ; † October 31, 1997 ) was a lama of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism . He meditated in seclusion in Tibet and India for over thirty years. In 1975 he was of 16 Karmapa Rigpe Dorje in the Dordogne sent. There and in the Auvergne , at the request of the 16th Karmapa, he founded the so-called four Dhagpos and took over their spiritual direction in order to ensure the continuity and authenticity of the Dharma transmission in the West.

The four dhagpos

The four dhagpos are:

  • Dhagpo Kagyu Ling - Public Meditation and Study Center
  • Dhagpo Kundreul Ling - Monastic Hermitage and Long-Term Retreat Center
  • Dhagpo Dargye Ling - short-term retreat center for laypeople
  • Dhagpo Dedrol Ling - Long term retreat center for laypeople
