The General-Anzeiger is a free advertising paper with its own editorial team that appears in northern Saxony-Anhalt around Magdeburg (main edition) and in parts of the Lower Saxony districts of Goslar , Uelzen and Lüchow-Dannenberg (these together with the main edition form the complete edition).

With a circulation of over 641,797 copies on weekends and 501,378 copies on Wednesdays, it is the weekly paper with the highest circulation in this area. The General-Anzeiger appears twice a week (Wednesdays and weekends) in 15 local editions.
