Walter M601
The Walter M601 is the first turboprop engine from the Czech company Walter Engines . It is used for business travel , agricultural and military training aircraft.
history
Production of the first version (model M601A) began in 1975. After several variants, an extensive further development of the engine was presented in 1986 with the version M601E. In total, more than 1500 pieces have been built so far.

- First basic models for the Let L-410 . Are no longer produced.
- M601D
- Version for the Let L410UVP-E. As M601D-1 in use by PZL Kruk and Ayres Thrush , as M601D-2 for some Dornier Do 28 , as M601D-11NZ for the Fletcher FU-24 . There is also an M601D-11.
- M601E
- improved versions (M601E-11, M601E-11A, M601E-11AS, M601E-11S, M601E-21) for the Let L410UVP-E
- M601F
- improved versions (M601FS, M601F-11, M601F-22, M601F-32) for the Let L420UVP
- M601T
- Version for the trainer PZL-130 Orlik
- M601Z
- Version for the Let Z-37T
- M601H-80
- New version with 597 kW of power, which was developed after Walter was taken over by General Electric and is said to consume seven percent less fuel.
General Electric H80
In March 2012 , Walter Engines, now trading under GE Aviation Czech , was granted type certification for the General Electric H80, which was further developed from the M601H-80, by the FAA . The GE H75 and H85 variants followed in November. The engines have, according to their designation, outputs of 750, 800 and 850 shaft HP. The MTBO is 3600 flight hours or 6600 engine cycles.
Technical specifications
The engines are twin-shaft turboprop propulsion systems with flow against the direction of flight, in which two axial and one centrifugal compressor stages are used for the gas generator , which are driven by a single-stage turbine . Another single-stage axial power turbine drives the propeller via a two-stage gearbox with a reduction ratio of 15: 1.
