General Manuel Belgrano is a place in the Patiño department in northern Argentina . It is located 175 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa in the southwest of the province of the same name . In the classification of the municipalities of the province it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 3rd category. In 1991 the city only had 3,556 inhabitants, the population increased by 23% by 2001.

The city's namesake, Manuel Belgrano , took part in the May Revolution and created the Argentine flag. Other places are named after him, including a. the Belgrano district in Buenos Aires .
