El Colorado is a municipality in the Pirané department in the Formosa province in northern Argentina . It is 400 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa and only a few kilometers from the border with the Chaco province . In the classification of the municipalities of the province it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 2nd category.

El Colorado is a former reduction of the Matacos . The founding date of the place is February 11, 1936.
