The general of the telecommunications force is the name of a position in the army of the German armed forces .

Until 1995, the general of the telecommunications force was a post in the Army Office , which was held by a colonel . With the restructuring of the Army Office in 1995, the post was combined with that of the Commander of the Telecommunications School and Technical College of the Army for Electrical Engineering . From then on, the general of the telecommunications troops was a service position, that is, an office that was carried out by the commander of the telecommunications school and technical college of the army for electrical engineering; his rank was that of a brigadier general . The military school was subordinate to the Army Office.

In the course of the consolidation of the joint armed forces training, the telecommunications school was initially placed under the armed forces base in July 2005 and decommissioned in September 2006. At the same time, using the previous telecommunications school, the Bundeswehr command support school was set up. The school commander was temporarily a general of the telecommunications force.

Since December 2006, the general of the telecommunications troops has been in a position that was initially held by the head of the telecommunications troops / troop telecommunications connection service for the Army of the Army Office. At the moment this position is connected with the sub-department head IV 1 command support in the command army . The position of general of the telecommunications force is held by an officer with the rank of colonel . The address is given with the rank, i.e. Colonel and not with the position.
