Genki Yokota

Genki Yokota ( Japanese 横 田 弦 紀 , Yokota Genki ) is a Japanese game developer at Nintendo .

Yokota has been with Nintendo since 2005. He is assigned to the Nintendo Software Planning & Development (SPD) department, where he works as a planner and director. In this role he was the responsible director for Nintendo for some video game projects with Nintendo external studios. Yokota is assigned to the second SPD group under producer Hitoshi Yamagami .

After minor contributions, Yokota made his debut in 2008 as director of the Nintendo DS game Fossil-Fighers , which was developed in collaboration with Red Entertainment. In the same year, the Wii action game Disaster: Day of Crisis , which SPD had developed together with Monolith Soft , was released. Here, too, Yokota was a director for Nintendo.

Yokota was also involved in the next game by Monolith Soft. He joined the company during the prototype phase in April 2007 and took on the role of director, leading Nintendo's large development team. The game was released in 2010 as Xenoblade Chronicles , also for Wii. A successor to Fossil Fighters , subtitled Champion , was also directed by Yokota and was released for DS in 2010.

After Yokota had worked as a Superviser on the Wii role-playing game The Last Story with Mistwalker in 2011, the tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Awakening was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2012 . Here, too, Yokota was the director.
