KK Mistwalker ( Japanese 株式会社 ミ ス ト ウ ォ ー カ ー , kabushiki kaisha Misutowōkā ; English Mistwalker Corp. ) is a Japanese game development company . It was founded in 2004 by Hironobu Sakaguchi (the founder of the Final Fantasy series) with financial support from Microsoft . Microsoft wanted to use the Mistwalker title to open up the Japanese game market. Mistwalker partially outsources the development to other development companies. This allows them to focus on the history and music of the games and to monitor the development process in general. Several former Square Enix employees who helped develop the Final Fantasy series moved to Mistwalker . The most famous collaborator besides Sakaguchi is the composer Nobuo Uematsu .

  • Cry On was announced back in 2005 and was to be developed for the Xbox 360 in collaboration with Cavia . In this action role-playing game , a person named Sally befriends a sand creature that Sally first has to carry around and support and then later grow to a gigantic size and carry Sally. The player should experience the story from the alternating perspective of both characters. The producer was Hironobu Sakaguchi and the music was supposed to be contributed by Nobuo Uematsu . At the end of 2008, the publisher AQ Interactive announced the discontinuation of the title. According to the publisher, the reasons for this were the current and future market situation.
