Hironobu Sakaguchi
Hironobu Sakaguchi ( Japanese 坂口博信 Sakaguchi Hironobu ; born November 25, 1962 ) is a Japanese game designer and producer . He is the creator of the Final Fantasy series.
description
When Square was founded in 1986, he was appointed Director of Planning and Development. In 1991 he became "Executive Vice President ". Since joining the company, he has headed the development department. In 1995 he was appointed President of the newly established US subsidiary.
In 1987 Square was on the verge of bankruptcy and so all hopes were placed in Sakaguchi's project Final Fantasy . With success, the first part sold over 600,000 times, which was an enormous success at the time and established the series (alongside Enix ' Dragon Quest series) as the most successful role-playing game series in Japan.
In addition to the Final Fantasy series, the Chrono series is one of his most famous creations. In 2000, he was inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' Hall of Fame for his achievements .
He fulfilled his vision of a feature film with actors created on the computer with the movie Final Fantasy: The Powers Within You . The film's failure caused the newly formed Square Pictures to go bankrupt. Therefore, he was downgraded from producer to executive producer and left Square Enix to start his own company Mistwalker in 2004 , with other now also freelance Square Enix employees, such as Nobuo Uematsu .
Mistwalker has already completed the video games Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360 and ASH for the Nintendo DS. The latest work is The Last Story for Nintendo Wii.
