Georg Bammel

Georg Bammel , actually Grigorij Konstantinoviè Bammel or Grigorij Konstantinoviè Melikov ; (* December 17, 1900 in Tbilisi ; † October 10, 1939 ) was a Soviet philosopher .

Bammel was a full member of the Institute of the Red Professorship from 1928 to 1931 . He was considered an expert on the history of philosophy and dialectics . During the Stalin Purges he was expelled from the CPSU on February 16, 1937 and arrested in Sverdlovsk on February 23. On April 9, 1938, the NKVD sentenced him to eight years in a camp (Sevvostlag). He died in October 1939 and was posthumously rehabilitated on April 6, 1956.
