Georg Josef Riedel (born December 16, 1949 ) is an Austrian entrepreneur and glass manufacturer in the 10th generation. He is the owner of the Riedel Glas company .

Life

Georg Josef Riedel was born in Innsbruck in 1949 as the son of Claus J. Riedel and Adia Rosa Riedel (née Parodi). During his studies in Vienna he met his wife Eva, to whom he has been married since 1973. They have two children, Maximilian J. Riedel and Laetizia Riedel-Rothlisberger.

Riedel joined the family business in 1973 as an accountant. In 1982 he expanded the product development process at Riedel and founded the glass workshop with headquarters in Kufstein , Austria. In 1979 he opened his first branch in the USA as an importer and distributor. He also founded the subsidiary "Riedel Crystal of America". Since then, eight more companies have sprung up around the world, including in China, Japan and Australia. He was the first to use the wine wholesale trade to serve the catering trade. As a result, the company expanded its global presence to over 100 countries. In 2004 he took over the companies Nachtmann and Spiegelau.

From 1987 to 1994 Riedel was co-CEO of Riedel Crystal alongside his father, Claus Josef Riedel. In 1994 Georg J. Riedel took over the sole management of Riedel. Since 2013, son Maximilian J. Riedel has been the 11th generation to manage the entire company. Daughter Laetizia Riedel-Rothlisberger represents the companies legally as the lead company lawyer.
