Originally an insurance agent, he took over the book inventory of the insolvent policyholder Karl-Franz Nohr and initially delivered books from Reclam Verlag and other publishers regionally. In 1928 he founded the book wholesale company Libri . In 1953 he introduced the book truck service - Libri-Dienst - which, after the collapse of the central Leipzig book trade location, supplied booksellers in West Germany with books ordered from their own and publishing houses on a daily basis. After his death, the company was continued by his sons Charles and Kurt. Georg Lingenbrink was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg.

In 1950, a "Verlag G. Lingenbrink" also operated with the seat in Rastatt .
