Georg Mahl (* 1870 in Gottesheim near Zabern ; † 1939 ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Georg Mahl studied at the University of Strasbourg . In 1887 he became a member of the Palaio Alsatia Strasbourg . After completing his studies, he entered the administrative service of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . From 1903 to 1912 he was district director of the Château-Salins district , from 1912 to 1914 of the Zabern district and from 1914 to 1916 of the Thann district . He later moved to the district headquarters of Colmar , Strasbourg and Metz (1916–1918).

In the Zabern affair at the end of 1913, Mahl, who was himself an Alsatian, rejected the request of the commander of the 2nd Upper Rhine Infantry Regiment No. 99 Ernst von Reuter to take police action against the civilian population, as the prostitutes behave peacefully and do not violate the law had committed, and countered Reuter's threat to declare the state of siege that this was unconstitutional, since only the emperor could declare the state of siege. From 1920 until his retirement in 1935, Mahl served as director of the Upper Insurance Office ( Office supérieur des assurances sociales ) in Strasbourg.
