Georg Martz (doctor)

Georg Martz (born February 9, 1923 in Langenbruck ; † October 16, 2007 in Zurich ) was a Swiss physician .

Martz studied medicine and received his doctorate from the University of Bern in 1949 . In 1960 he introduced medical oncology in Switzerland. In 1969 he received his habilitation at the University of Zurich and in 1974 he was appointed associate professor. Until 1988 he headed the Department of Medical Oncology at the University Hospital Zurich . He was a co-founder of the Foundation for Applied Cancer Research and the Swiss Working Group for Clinical Cancer Research .
