Georg Mayer (born October 12, 1973 in Feldbach , Styria ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). From 2010 to 2014 he was a member of the Styrian state parliament and also held the function of club chairman . On July 1, 2014, he was sworn in as a member of the European Parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1995, Mayer studied business administration and law at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . In 2001 he graduated as a Mag. Iur., Two years later he completed his doctorate in law. In 2005 he began studying international and European business law at the University of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ), which he completed in 2007 with the academic degree MBL-HSG.

After completing his diploma studies, Mayer worked for several months in the office of the non-party Justice Minister Dieter Böhmdorfer , before moving to the Federal Ministry for Social Security and Generations from State Secretary Ursula Haubner in June 2002 . In January 2005 he became an advisor to Deputy Governor Leopold Schöggl . From autumn 2005 to 2007 he worked as an administrative lawyer in the state of Styria, from 2007 to 2009 as Secretary General of the European legal group ITS in the European Parliament . From 2009 until his election to the Styrian state parliament , Mayer returned to the state service. Georg Mayer is married and lives in Kitzeck im Sausal.

Political career

Mayer began his political career in 1991 in the Ring Freiheitlicher Jugend and was district chairman of the RFJ-Feldbach as well as a member of the RFJ state board. In 2005 he became local party chairman of the FPÖ-Feldbach and represented it from 2005 to 2010 in the local council. In October 2009 he was appointed regional manager of the FPÖ-Styria, since then he has been a member of the regional party presidency. After the FPÖ moved into the Styrian state parliament in the state elections in 2010 , Mayer was elected club chairman by the liberal MPs . Mayer is running for the election to the European Parliament on position 4 of the FPÖ.
