Georg Mittermayr ( January 7, 1783 in Fürth - January 17, 1858 in Munich ) was a German opera singer ( baritone , bass ), theater actor and vocal teacher .

Life

In 1807 Mittermayr joined the Association of the Munich Court Stage, to which he belonged until 1834 and where he was among the favorites of the Munich public for more than a quarter of a century. He was active in both acting and opera, although greater importance must be attributed to his work as a singer. The artist also had the opportunity to perform excellent roles at a number of premieres in Munich. He created the title role of “Johann von Paris” (January 9, 1813), “Pizarro” in “Fidelio” (July 1, 1821), and “Ottokar” in “Freischütz” (April 5, 1822).

His children were the violinist Eduard Mittermayr (1814–1857) and the soprano Maria Mittermayr-Viala (1817–1900).
