Georg Pfeiffer (Turner)

Georg Pfeiffer (* 1897 in Griesheim , † August 29, 1967 in Bad Blankenburg ) was a German gymnast and gymnastics teacher .

Life

After the First World War , Pfeiffer was, among other things, the initiator of the Frankfurt club and country competitions in artistic gymnastics. In 1925 he completed his training as a gymnastics teacher at the German University for Physical Education in Berlin .

He was a member of the so-called America squad (see Germany squad ) of the German Gymnastics Federation , who did gymnastics as part of a six-week trip to the United States at the National TurnFest Louisville , Kentucky . At that time he was already married.

From 1935 until the start of the war he was employed as a gymnastics teacher at the Krefeld gymnastics club in 1855.

As managing director and gymnastics teacher for several years, he played a key role in the success of Eintracht Frankfurt's gymnasts . One of his students was Olympic champion Ernst Winter . In 1941 he accepted the post of headmaster at the Reichsbundschule für physical exercises in Bad Blankenburg.

After World War II , he was first Plant Security Chief and BGL -President in RFT active -Werk Blankenburg. In 1953 he became the trainer of SV Science at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . Shortly afterwards he became the sports director of the student physical education department and was temporarily also chairman of the university sports association. Among other things, he headed the competitions there in 1958 as part of the 500th anniversary of the university. Because of an operation in May 1960, he decided to give up his job.

Pfeiffer died after a serious illness shortly before the age of 70.
