Master for protection and security

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The master for protection and security is the highest non-academic professional qualification in the security industry in Germany. Masters for protection and security are employed by security services , lead corresponding services themselves or work for large companies, for example as plant security managers.

job profile

In general, masters for protection and security are responsible for security and regulatory measures that plan and develop them. As part of projects, security analyzes and concepts, proposals for operational security policy or the planning and development of technical and structural security measures are created or existing ones are checked and updated. The foreman also has a high level of responsibility in cost and performance accounting, where budgets are managed independently and costs are estimated that are incurred for the operation of safety equipment or for security personnel. Masters for protection and security also train apprentices in the training professions of specialists for protection and security and "service personnel for protection and security". The training qualifications here form recognized levels of knowledge that are otherwise seldom achieved in this profession, which is often characterized by lateral entrants and low-skilled workers. In addition, foremen for protection and security can take on the task of developing further education measures and training courses independently. In the area of operational security, there are various options for specialization. These can be company fire protection (including further training to become a fire protection officer), the in-house investigation service or the administration of access control systems .

history

From December 14, 1989 to March 26, 2003, with amendment of May 18, 2004 ( BGBl. I p. 433 and BGBl. I p. 1002 ), the designation "Werkschutzmeister" was used for the previous examination regulations. This has been replaced by the qualification to become a “Master in Protection and Security”. Compared to the previous model, the focus of the Meister für Schutz und Sicherheit is more on the areas of security technology and business administration. As a special feature of all IHK exams, the works security foreman had his own subject for applied psychology in the subject-specific part , which was heavily influenced by criminological “police psychology”. The current model is based on the industrial foreman in the basic qualifications and also writes the same exams in the subjects; the real specialization of the examination only takes place in the action-specific qualifications.
