Võnnu (German Wenden ) is a former rural community in the east of the Estonian district of Tartu with an area of 229 km². It had 1218 inhabitants (January 1, 2006). Since 2017 it belongs to the rural community Kastre .
Võnnu is 26 km from Tartu . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1341. In addition to the main town Võnnu (624 inhabitants), the rural community also included the villages of Agali, Ahunapalu, Hammaste, Imste, Issaku, Kannu, Kurista, Kõnnu, Liispõllu, Lääniste, Rookse and Terikeste.
Võnnu is the starting point for numerous hiking trails through the river, forest and moor landscape shaped by the Emajõgi .
