Georg Pieper

Georg Pieper (* 1953 ) is a German psychological psychotherapist and psychotraumatologist with experience in dealing with major disasters. Pieper is a lecturer and supervisor for behavior therapy and EMDR at various state-recognized training institutes and an author. Georg Pieper is managing director of the Institute for Trauma Management ITB , runs the Emergency Psychological Center Dr. Pieper NZP and is based in Gladenbach in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district .

Life

Pieper studied psychology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , graduated from there in 1977 and received his doctorate in 2006 with the dissertation Aid for Victims of Disasters and Targeted Violence - a Concept for Psychotraumatological Care . After five years in drug therapy and five years in child and adolescent psychiatry in Marburg, Pieper specialized in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorders. From 1988 onwards, he looked after the victims, relatives and emergency services of the Borken mine disaster for five years . In 1988 he also looked after those affected and the emergency services of the Ramstein air show disaster . Since 1989 he has been looking after those affected by the Herborn fuel accident . From 1993 to 1996 Pieper took care of the German hostage victims in Lebanon.

Pieper has been the German representative in the Task Force on Disaster and Crisis of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) since January 1, 2004 . There he is committed to the development of European quality standards for the care of disaster victims. With Jürgen Bengel, he published trauma therapy in seven stages in 2008 - a cognitive-behavioral treatment manual .
