Georg Placke

Georg Heinrich Carl Placke (born August 16, 1848 in Aken ; † November 15, 1930 there ) was an entrepreneur and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Placke attended the Latin secondary school in Halle an der Saale and studied from 1874 to 1875 at the University of Halle . Between 1865 and 1873 he completed a commercial apprenticeship and his one-year service. Then he was an authorized signatory and general representative of a very excellent industrial company in Halle (Kommerzienrat Carl Adolf Riebeck ). From 1876 he was self-employed in Aken, u. a. as the owner of the Georg Placke shipyard, which still exists today .

He was also an alderman (second mayor) of the city of Aken, a member of the district council and the district committee of the district of Calbe and captain of the Landwehr I. Aufgebots. He was the holder of the Iron Cross First Class and took part in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 as a reserve lieutenant in Infantry Regiment No. 67 .

From 1893 to 1898 and from February 1900 to 1903 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Magdeburg 7 Aschersleben , Quedlinburg , Calbe an der Saale and the National Liberal Party .

In March 1915 he was made an honorary citizen of Aken.
