Hans Georg Pommer (* 1958 in Weinheim as Uwe Buschkötter ) is a German pianist and composer. He is the musical director of Circus Roncalli and possibly the longest-serving circus conductor in the world.

Georg Pommer received piano lessons as a child from a professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music , which he continued until he was seventeen at the municipal music school in his home town of Weinheim. There he later received his first lessons on his secondary instrument - the saxophone. At the age of eleven he became enthusiastic about art rock , later he founded the Georg Pommer Trio, a jazz formation with which he recorded the album Nord in Oslo .

Georg Pommer studied piano, composition and musicology in Bern and Darmstadt . Since 2006, Pommer has been studying musicology and music informatics at the HFM Karlsruhe in addition to touring. He graduated with a BA in musicology and an MA in music informatics and is currently working on his doctorate in the field of Auditory Perception.

Bernhard Paul discovered and engaged him when he played in a big band during his student days . Due to an injury, Pommer was unable to participate in the first tour of the circus, but soon afterwards he led the circus orchestra, which initially consisted of 14 people. Roncalli now employs 50 musicians, who often appear in several formations at the same time. Pommer usually performs in the circus with eight multi-instrumentalists. About half of the compositions that are played at Roncalli come from Pomerania. During the playing season from February to December, Pommer travels with the Roncalli Circus.

Georg Pommer does not compose exclusively for the circus. Georg Pommer regularly undertakes compositional excursions to film and television (including ARD, ZDF, RTL). He was a guest lecturer at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. Numerous musical projects brought him a. a. together with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg, the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Radio Orchestra. The agenda of his collaborations includes artists as diverse as André Eisermann, Milva, Otto or the Scorpions. He owns a recording studio (GPM-Sound Studio) in Gräfrath near Solingen , his place of residence, where CDs are recorded, as well as his own label (GPM-Records). Pommer has worked with Sting and the Scorpions , among others .

Georg Pommer is married and has two children.
