Ulf Torreck (born August 9, 1973 in Leipzig ) is a German writer . He also writes under the pseudonym David Gray .

Life

After dropping out of law school in Leipzig, Torreck trained as a screenwriter and then worked as a script doctor and film critic for various local newspapers. During this period, he spent longer periods abroad in France, Ireland, Great Britain and Nepal.

Under the pseudonym David Gray, Torreck published five novels and a short story anthology from May 2011 on the Amazon.de self-publishing platform . These included the historical novel Wolfswechsel and the police thriller Glashaus , which was revised in February 2015 by Pendragon Verlag in Bielefeld under the title Kanakenblues . His historical novel Wolfswechsel has sold more than 30,000 copies and stayed in the top fifty of the Kindle charts for more than 280 days .

From 2008 he regularly published short stories under various pseudonyms in the BDSM magazine headlines of the Charon publishing house in Hamburg. Torreck also writes regularly for literaturcafe.de under his David Gray pseudonym.

In September 2011, as David Gray, he published a manifesto together with Emily Bold and other self-publishers, in which colleagues from publishing authors were called upon to give up prejudices against self-publishing that have since become outdated and to actively use the new opportunities in the book market for themselves.

Torreck falls into the category of so-called hybrid authors because of the two forms of publication he cultivates as a self-publisher and a publisher .

Torreck currently lives as a freelance writer in Leipzig.
