Georg Puhm

Georg Puhm (born August 25, 1941 in Zemendorf ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and employee. He represented the SPÖ from 1977 to 1996 in the Burgenland Landtag and was at times the 3rd President of the Landtag.

Life

Puhm was born to Franz Puhm (died 1942) and Elisabeth Puhm from Hirm . He attended elementary school in Hirm. After attending secondary school in Mattersburg , he worked as a lathe operator from 1955 to 1959 , most recently in Pösching , where he also worked as a works council. From 1956, Puhm was politically active in the socialist youth and on September 1, 1969, he became secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions. From 1970 to 1971 he attended the social academy in Hinterbrühl and rose to the position of state secretary of the ÖGB on July 1, 1975.

Puhm lives in Hirm - Antau and is married.

Puhm was also local party chairman of the SPÖ in Hirm from 1967 to 1975 and then deputy chairman. Furthermore, from 1967 he was local councilor and vice mayor in Hirm-Antau and between 1974 and 1989 he took over the office of mayor of the then merged municipality of Hirm - Antau . Puhm was a member of the Burgenland Landtag between October 27, 1977 and June 27, 1996. From July 18, 1991 and June 27, 1996, he was also the 3rd President of the Burgenland Parliament.
