Georg Rüppell

Georg Rüppell (born April 20, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German zoologist and biologist and retired professor of behavioral ecology at the TU Braunschweig .

Live and act

He studied from 1961 to 1967 at the Universities of Freiburg, Hamburg and Kiel. He then worked as a speaker at the IWF Knowledge and Media in Göttingen. In 1967 he did his doctorate under Professor Hermann Remmert (1931–1994) with the dissertation topic Periodic and long-term fauna shifts in the marine supralitoral . In 1972 his habilitation took place.

Georg Rüppell devoted himself to teaching in ecology , behavior and evolution , including many field internships in the Wadden Sea, on the rocky coast of Scotland and in local waters, as well as working groups that researched dragonflies, fish, ecotoxicology and fens.

Rüppell's personal areas of work and activities include bird and insect flight, behavior of dragonflies, together with Dagmar Hilfert-Rüppell, slow-motion analyzes of dragonfly behavior and several ZDF films as well as scientific films about the flight and reproduction of dragonflies, research trips to Spitsbergen, Africa, Japan , Thailand, India, Galapagos.
