Georg Schmelzer

Georg Schmelzer (born November 5, 1897 in Gols ; † January 20, 1967 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1949 to 1953 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Life

Schmelzer was born the son of the winemaker Matthias Schmelzer and attended elementary school in Gols. He then worked as a farmer in his parents' business and fought between 1915 and 1918 in the First World War . In 1924 he took over his parents' wine farm and expanded it. From 1939 he was employed in the Wehrmacht for a few months , after which he worked again in his company. Schmelzer retired in 1952.

Schmelzer was married.

He served as Mayor of Gols from 1945 to 1946 and between 1949 and 1958 and represented the ÖVP in the Burgenland Landtag between November 4, 1949 and March 19, 1953. He was also a member of the farmers' union .
