Georg Spormecker

Georg Spormecker (* around 1495 in Lünen ; † March 14, 1562 in Herbern ), also Spormacher , was a German chronicler . He was catholic. Pastor at the later Protestant St. George's Church in Lünen and vicar of St. Petri Church in Dortmund and finally pastor in Herbern.

In 1536, Spormecker wrote a Latin chronicle of the Brandenburg city of Lünen (Chronica Lünensis civitatis Marcanae).

In Lünen there is the Spormeckerplatz in his memory .
