History and architecture

View of the chancel

The church was consecrated to Saints George and Catherine. The hall of three yokes stands on an almost square floor plan. The choir in the 5/8 end is one-yoke. The building with a west tower was erected from 1360 to 1366 and restored from 1512 to 1521 after a fire. The exterior is plastered and structured by corner blocks and three-lane windows. The east gable is built from half-timbered houses. The nave was decorated with fish bubble tracery in 1521 . The choir with the crowning three-pass is marked in the arched triangle with 1366. In the compact interior, rib vaults rest over round pillars and wall brackets. The murals were uncovered from 1905 to 1908 and restored from 1957 to 1958. The Fall of Man and the Last Judgment from the beginning of the 16th century can be seen in the central nave vault. The angel with the tools of suffering was added in 1908. The standing apostle from the 15th century, between the two choir windows, has been heavily renewed. The saint on the north wall of the nave is barely recognizable.

Winged altar

The important winged altar from around 1470 was created around the master of Liesborn . The two central panels depict the crucifixion bearing the cross, the descent from the cross with Christ in limbo and the entombment. Further scenes from the life of Jesus can be seen on the inside of the wings. On the outside the Saints George and John the Baptist are shown with the Madonna .
