George Balfour

George Balfour (born November 30, 1872 , † September 26, 1941 ) was a Scottish engineer , businessman and Member of the House of Commons.

Life

George Balfour founded on January 12, 1909 along with Andrew Beatty , the company Balfour Beatty plc with a registered capital of 50,000 GBP. The company's first headquarters were at 22a College Hill near Cannon St Station in London. It should be a "company for engineering, operator for rail transport and lighting systems as well as the promotion of new companies".

In Germany, the Balfour Beatty Rail GmbH in Munich and the Balfour Beatty Rail Signal GmbH in Staßfurt .

From 1918 until his death in 1941 he was a member of the House of Commons for Hampstead (since 1965 part of the London Borough of Camden).
