George D. Shuman

George D. Shuman (* 1952 ) is an American author of crime novels.

Shuman grew up on a farm in the southwest of the US state of Pennsylvania . In the early 1970s, he moved to Washington, DC , where he began his police career as an undercover agent for the drug squad. He then worked in various office positions until, after twenty years, he resigned from police service as Lieutenant Commander of the Department of Public Integrity in the Internal Affairs division.

In the mid-1990s, he moved to Nantucket , Massachusetts , where he worked as a hotel manager. In 2006 his first detective novel, 18 Seconds , appeared, with which he immediately made his international breakthrough. The central figure is the blind Sherry Moore, who has the unique ability to read the short-term memory of a dead person, which contains the perceptions of the last 18 seconds of his life, through direct physical contact.
