George Dollond (born January 25, 1774 in London ; † May 13, 1852 ibid) was a British optician and telescope designer from the optician dynasty founded by John Dollond (1706–1761), his great-uncle .

He built astronomical telescopes and developed various precision instruments for geodesy and navigation . In 1821 he constructed a micrometer based on natural crystals, and around 1830 together with Peter Barlow an afocal system for extending the focal length of telescopes, the so-called Barlow lens .

Most of his life he worked in the family business for instrument making that his uncle Peter Dollond and his father John Dollond had built. He took over the management of the company in 1819 when his uncle withdrew from the business.

In the decades after 1760, the Dollond company was a world leader in the production of achromatic lenses , which revolutionized telescope construction with their color purity.
