George Mattos
George Mattos ( George Frank Mattos; born October 6, 1929 in Santa Cruz , California - † October 18, 2012 in Central Point , Oregon ) was an American pole vaulter .
At the Olympic Games he was ninth in Helsinki in 1952 and fourth in Melbourne in 1956 .
In 1953 he was US champion. He set his personal best of 4.57 m on May 30, 1959 in Modesto .
