George McCall Theal

George McCall Theal (born April 11, 1837 in Saint John (New Brunswick) , † April 17, 1919 in Wynberg , Cape Province ) was a Canadian-born British historian who was engaged in researching the history of southern Africa and its various cultures has earned.

Life

A standard work is his History of South Africa from 1795–1872 ( History of South Africa from 1795–1872 ). Also worth mentioning are his works on the Boer immigrant group and the Xhosa folklore .
