George Norton

George W. Norton is an American agricultural economist . He is a professor at Virginia Tech University .

Life

Norton first studied agricultural economics at Cornell University ( BS , 1971) and then went to Colombia for two years with the Peace Corps . On his return, he completed an MS (1975) at Cornell and then received his doctorate from the University of Minnesota (1979). He has been with Virginia Tech since 1980.

Norton's research areas are international agricultural development, evaluation of agricultural research , and integrated pest management . He has done research in Latin America , Africa and Asia .
