The George Rock is a 3 m high rock formation on the north coast of South Georgia . It towers on the west bank of the entrance to Maiviken Bay in Cumberland Bay .
The name of the rock was first recorded on a map of the British Admiralty from 1930. The further naming background has not been passed down.
