George Scholes
George Francis Scholes (born November 24, 1928 in Toronto , Ontario , † November 18, 2004 in Mississauga , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player .
Career
George Scholes began his career as a hockey player with the St. Michael's Buzzers, for which he was active from 1943 to 1946. He spent the next two years with the Oshawa Generals in the Junior Ontario Hockey Association. From 1948 to 1951 he played for the Quebec Aces from the Quebec Senior Hockey League, before running up from 1951 to 1953 for the Moncton Hawks from the Maritime Major Hockey League. He then moved to the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, with whom he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, in 1955 . With the Dutchmen he also represented Canada at the 1956 Winter Olympics. After spending the 1957/58 season with the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, he played for the Windsor Bulldogs for a year before ending his career at the age of 30 .
International
For Canada , Scholes took part in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , where he and his team won the bronze medal.
