George Willoughby Fraser

George Willoughby Fraser (baptized August 5, 1866 in Mereworth , † November 24, 1923 in Bath ) was a civil engineer and worked for the Egypt Exploration Fund . His parents were Sir Thomas Fraser and Matilda Wildman.

As part of his work for the Egypt Exploration Fund, he worked as a draftsman for the excavations under Sir Flinders Petrie , Percy Edward Newberry and Marcus Worsley Blackden in the Fayyum , in Beni Hasan and Dair al-Berscha and in the quarries of Hatnub . Less well known is his description of the burial ground from the 4th and 5th dynasties two kilometers south of Tihna al-Jabal , which today bears his name.
