Georges Bonello (born July 3, 1898 or September 13, 1901 in Algiers , † unknown) was a French football player .

Career

Bonello grew up in Algeria, which was ruled by France, and was one of the pieds-noirs that represented the population of European descent. From 1920 he ran as an amateur footballer for FC Blida and won the North African Championship with this in 1923 . The striker was considered to be physically strong and dangerous and was initially loyal to his home club from Blida.

Nothing changed when he ran up for the first time for the French national team on April 18, 1926 in a 4-2 win against Portugal ; he contributed one hit to the victory. After a 4-2 again against Portugal on March 16, 1927, he never wore the jersey of the national team again. In total, he had played three international matches with one goal and was able to win all three games.

In 1928 Bonello decided to move to metropolitan France and signed with the southern French club Olympique Marseille . With Marseille he won the French amateur championship in 1929 , which at that time was equal to the national title due to the lack of a professional league . However, he returned to Blida the same year and played for the Algerians for a year before ending his career in 1930.
