Georges Florentin Pruvôt

Georges Florentin Pruvôt (born April 11, 1852 in Saint-Amand-Montrond , † October 15, 1924 in Paris ) was a French medic and zoologist.

Life

Pruvôt first studied human medicine in Paris, where he received his diploma and doctorate in medicine in 1882. He became an assistant at the University of Paris ( faculté des sciences de Paris ) and from the following year worked at the Roscoff Biological Station . In 1885 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the morphology of the nervous system of the polychaetes Recherches anatomiques et morphologiques sur le système nerveux des annélides polychètes , then became a lecturer at the Faculty of Paris in 1885, and then from 1892 at the University of Grenoble and worked there in the following Year as a university professor.

In 1898 he left Grenoble and went back to Paris to take responsibility for a course in comparative anatomy . In 1900 he became director of the Banyuls-sur-Mer station . In 1926 he married the French zoologist and malacologist Alice Pruvot-Fol . In 1922 he retired from active university activities.
