Georges Gachot

Georges Gachot (born October 8, 1962 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a film director of French and Swiss nationality who has been producing documentaries about classical music since 1990 .

Life

Gachot moved from Paris to Switzerland at the age of 18. He completed his studies as an electrical engineer at the ETH Zurich in 1988 with a diploma. Following his passion for the piano and musicology, he later worked for the music label Naxos . On behalf of television stations, Gachot began to shoot film portraits of composers and performers, and from 1996 he produced his own musicians' films, some of which were also shown in the cinema. His best-known works include portraits of Martha Argerich (awarded the Prix ​​Italia in 2002) and Beat Richner .
