Georgi Prize
The Georgi Prize is a science award from the GeoUnion Alfred Wegener Foundation and the German Meteorological Society . The prize goes back to the meteorologist and polar researcher Johannes Georgi , who left the foundation of the foundation's assets in 1972, and was awarded from 1987 onwards for outstanding scientific work in the field of polar meteorology. Since the mid-1990s, the prize has been awarded to personalities who have made outstanding contributions to the atmospheric sciences (meteorology, climatology ) with their scientific work - mainly in Germany .
