Georgi "Juri" Savvich Grammatikopulo ( Russian Георгий Саввич Грамматикопуло ; * 1930 in Sukhum , † 1992 ) was a Soviet football player and coach.

life and career

Georgi Grammatikopulo, who was also called "Juri", began playing football at Dinamo Sukhum in his hometown on the Black Sea, where Nikita Simonjan was also playing at the time. He was of Greek origin . In 1949 the striker Grammatikopulo came to Dinamo Tbilisi , but only stayed there until 1950 and went goalless. He briefly played at the small club Spartak Tbilisi before he was signed by Dynamo Leningrad . He played there from 1952 to 1953 before being signed by Dynamo Kiev . He spent five seasons with the Kiev team, in which he made 97 league games and scored 21 goals. In 1960 he went back briefly to Dinamo Tbilisi, where he was unable to assert himself. He let his career end with his old club Dinamo Suchum.

Georgi Grammatikopulo then also worked as a trainer. First at Torpedo Kutaisi , later repeatedly at Dinamo Sukhum, most recently in 1989. Grammatikopulo died in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union and during the civil war in Abkhazia .
